Recently being turned on to Ai Weiwei, he said something in an interview that blew my mind. "I write a blog every day. Some times two." This was before China shut down his site. Then he turned to twitter. The microblogging site became an even more powerful tool for his activism.
His activism and art seem focused on one thing. Getting as many people to take part as possible. By doing this, he accomplishes a couple of things: He distributes the load to get big things done quickly. He decentralizes his activism and makes his efforts nearly impossible to stop.
My gears are turning, there is so much going on in our country today that resembles the very things Ai stands against in China. Government power is over reaching. We are killing people in other countries for oil. Police are being trained to protect and serve themselves over the citizen. Laws are being passed every day that continually restrict and bar freedom.
What can we do? How do we stop the madness? All I know is that none of us can do it alone. We need each other and it starts by communicating, deeply and fully, so that we are all on the same page.
Thanks for being on the same page with me.
