I still have an account. I still run a lot of stuff on facebook, but I rarely interact with the site anymore for any personal reasons.
The first offense I remember was when they took away the timeline structure of the newsfeed and instituted a newsfeed algorithm that fed me posts they believed I wanted.
I had already "liked" the brands and friends I wanted. I liked seeing things in order in time. I liked seeing a wide range of opinions and facts, whether I agreed with them or not. Now, I have this shitty feed that gives me only the things facebook wants me to ingest.
Most recently, they did the same thing to notifications. I have lost so many important conversations in a sea of notifications that I don't care about. Yes, I know I can go through every last moment of interaction I have had and clean it up, but seriously, who has the time?
These things have been compounded by the social-political trolling and clickbaiting that never ends.
I will still post on facebook. Especially my blog. But I am spending my time on the internet elsewhere. Mainly, with Twitter and my blog. If you want to have a real conversation, find me there, and let's find a way to make a better digital world.
